EXCELLENCE THROUGH EFFORT
Issue No. 005
The final letter in JADE is E.
Excellence Through Effort.
A lot of people misunderstand excellence.
They think excellence means perfection.
They think excellence means being the best.
They think excellence means never making mistakes.
It doesn't.
Excellence is giving your best.
Every day.
That's what makes it so powerful.
Because excellence isn't something you achieve once.
It's something you choose over and over again.
Most athletes focus on the big things.
The starting position.
The championship.
The recognition.
But excellence is usually found in the small things.
Did you do every rep when the coach wasn't watching?
Did you stay focused during the drill?
Did you drink enough water?
Did you fuel your body the right way?
Did you stretch when nobody told you to?
Did you take shortcuts?
Only you know the answer to those questions.
That's why excellence starts with honesty.
Not honesty with your coach.
Not honesty with your parents.
Honesty with yourself.
The athletes who reach their potential understand something many people never do.
The little things become the big things.
One extra rep.
One healthy choice.
One focused practice.
One day of doing things the right way.
Then another.
And another.
And another.
Over time, those choices become habits.
Those habits become standards.
And those standards become who you are.
The best athletes aren't excellent because of what they do occasionally.
They're excellent because of what they do consistently.
They understand that effort is something they control.
Attitude is something they control.
Preparation is something they control.
Focus is something they control.
The outcome may not always be in their hands.
But the effort always is.
That's what should excite every athlete.
And every parent.
You have more control than you think.
You have the ability to become the person you want to be.
Not through luck.
Not through talent alone.
Through effort.
Earned one day at a time.
At The JADE Standard, we believe excellence isn't reserved for a select few.
It's available to anyone willing to do the work.
Anyone willing to stay focused.
Anyone willing to give their best.
Every day.
Earn it.
The Standard
"Excellence isn't being better than everyone else. Excellence is knowing you gave your best when nobody was watching."
